PermaLink How do I get rid of this warning in iNotes: Your timezone setting is different from your operating system's current one09/03/2008
iNotes
A Notes customer I supported years ago has been using web mail for a long time due to some customizations made to their Notes mail template. They finally got around to porting all of their customizations to the 6.5.5 iNotes mail template and want to switch all of their users over to it shortly. Unfortunately, they are getting this iNotes warning when their mail file opens to the Welcome Page:

Your timezone setting is different from your operating system's current one.  You can change your timezone setting by going to the Calendar section in the Preferences dialog.

I forwarded this technote to my client and asked for more information on his environment. Here's what I got back so far:
  • Domino server is at Domino 6.5.5
  • customized mail template is based on the iNotes 6.5.5 mail template
  • PC recognizes DST
  • Server recognizes DST
  • The Domino server's OS is Windows 2003 SP2
  • PC is running Windows XP Professional SP2
Based on that, my client shouldn't be getting that warning. My client added the iNotes_WA_UseServerTZSettings=1 to the NOTES.INI and restarted the server, but the warning remains.

I really don't want to tell my client to customize forms6.nsf, and they don't want to configure iNotes to not open to the Welcome Page. I'm guessing at this point that the only option left to my client is to follow the steps in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 942763. Did anyone else out there use this method to resolve this problem? Or is there some other trick he needs to get rid of that prompt?

Greetings:

I performed Option 1 of the technote, and that resolved the problem (for my customers)

We experienced the same. Hotfix 455.002 (for DWA) resolved the problem.

I've had a similar issue, and it was the DSTLAW setting on the server's INI file that fixed it for me as well. You'll have to search for the specific settings for the time zone that the person is in, but for eastern time zone observing DST it's
DSTLAW=3,2,1,11,1,1
