PermaLink Vegas Trip - pt. 7: log from day 207/20/2005 11:57 AM
Conferences
Thoughts and pics from the second day of the Advisor Live conference. Click the Read More link below to see...
Here's Liz Olsen. I'll need to contact her by October if I actually want to present at the next conference:

Andrew Pollack fielding questions after his IBM Lotus Domino 7 Meets IBM DB2 session. The bombshell from this session was that the ND7 <-> DB2 integration will remain in beta after ND 7.0 is released as gold code. That effectively puts a damper on any company I know that was thinking of using this.

Cory Isaacson's 9 Tips for Optimizing Java In Real-World Applications session was the best J2EE session I'd seen so far. Its great to hear about all of the low-level concerns that Java/J2EE programmers need to understand in order to figure out why their Java Web Apps go wrong.

Chris Miller, John Head and Christopher Byrne at lunch. We talked about, among other things, the pending new General Manager for Lotus Software within IBM, the affects of outsourcing, and the fact that Tom Duff never seems to sleep.

Jamie Magee's Performance Engineering for Domino: How to Make Your Apps Fly session was the best Notes session I'd seen so far:

As a side note, both Percussion and Gary Devendorf expressed interest in speaking at a future DNP DominoFest.

I'll post pics from tonight's adventures later today.
