This morning, I was in the middle of typing an e-mail to a colleague when my monitor blinked on and off several times over the course of a minute. The monitor had been blinking off at least once a day for the last couple of months, but I thought this was due to power surges. Well, my monitor blinked off last time and started to emit a burning odor. Thankfully, I still had an old monitor in my basement that I was able to use. Just goes to show: never throw out an old monitor. You never know when you may need to use it in a pinch. (Or when you realize you're just too damn cheap to buy a new plasma screen monitor!)
